The right farm table gives every guest a place to sit, room to dine and space to move comfortably. Its shape, dimensions and leg design all influence how many people it can accommodate.
A 180 cm round table can be planned for up to 12 guests in a compact arrangement. A 274 cm rectangular table can seat 10 along its two long sides—five on each side. For more generous place settings or wider chairs, reduce those numbers.
Compare round, rectangular and quarter-circle farm tables using the dimensions and illustrated layouts below. Seating figures are planning estimates; confirm the arrangement with your actual chairs, table base and tableware.
Round Farm Table Sizes and Seating Capacity
Round tables bring guests together around a shared center. They work well for wedding receptions and banquet dining, particularly when conversation across the table matters. Measure a round tabletop by its diameter: the straight-line distance through its center.

| Table diameter | Diameter in inches | Starting dinner layout | Compact layout to check |
|---|---|---|---|
| 120 cm | 47.2 in | 6 guests | 6 guests |
| 140 cm | 55.1 in | 6 guests | 8 guests |
| 150 cm | 59.1 in | 8 guests | 8 guests |
| 160 cm | 63.0 in | 8 guests | 10 guests |
| 180 cm | 70.9 in | 10 guests | 12 guests |
| 200 cm | 78.7 in | 10–12 guests | 12 guests |
The higher counts suit narrow, armless chairs and restrained place settings. Choose fewer seats when using wide Crossback chairs, armchairs, large chargers or several glasses per guest. Compare the actual dimensions of your wedding and event chairs alongside the table layout.
For context, Taylor’s Rental’s seating chart shows six guests at a 48-inch round table, eight at a 60-inch table and ten at a 72-inch table. Their exact diameters differ from the metric sizes above.
Can a 180 cm round table seat 12 people?
Twelve guests are possible as a compact layout, but ten is the better starting point for a longer seated dinner. At twelve places, a 180 cm tabletop provides approximately 47.1 cm / 18.6 in of curved table edge per person. Guests need narrow chairs, and the place settings must fit without overlapping.
Comparable 72-inch rental tables are offered for ten to twelve people with 18-inch-wide chairs. A true 180 cm table is slightly smaller than a 72-inch table, so test the complete setting before confirming twelve seats. See the chair-width example from Town & Country.
For twelve guests with more room between settings, consider a 200 cm / 78.7 in round table.
Rectangular Farm Table Sizes: Seating Along Both Long Sides
Rectangular farm tables create clear dining rows and suit long banquet arrangements. Counting seats along the two long sides also makes it easier to plan tables joined end to end.
All seating counts below exclude the two short ends.

| Table length | Length in inches | Illustrated arrangement | Total guests | Table edge per guest on each side |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 183 cm | 72.0 in | 3 on each side | 6 | 61.0 cm / 24.0 in |
| 200 cm | 78.7 in | 3 on each side | 6 | 66.7 cm / 26.2 in |
| 220 cm | 86.6 in | 4 on each side — compact | 8 | 55.0 cm / 21.7 in |
| 243 cm | 95.7 in | 4 on each side | 8 | 60.8 cm / 23.9 in |
| 274 cm | 107.9 in | 5 on each side — compact | 10 | 54.8 cm / 21.6 in |
| 300 cm | 118.1 in | 5 on each side | 10 | 60.0 cm / 23.6 in |
Around 60–61 cm / 24 in per adult is a useful starting allowance along a straight table edge. Wider chairs and more elaborate dining settings need additional room. Old Barn Star’s farmhouse table guidance also uses approximately 24 inches per adult.
The figures in the last column divide the tabletop length evenly between guests. Table legs, braces and usable space near the corners still need to be checked.
Can a 274 cm farm table seat ten guests without end seats?
Yes—arrange five chairs along each long side. Each guest receives approximately 54.8 cm / 21.6 in of table edge. This is a compact arrangement suited to narrow chairs and carefully sized place settings.
For a more generous layout, seat four guests on each side, giving eight guests approximately 68.5 cm / 27.0 in each. Alternatively, a 300 cm table gives ten guests 60 cm / 23.6 in each along the long sides. The same choice applies to a 220 cm table: eight guests create a compact arrangement, while six provide more space.
Table width matters too
Length controls how many chairs fit along each side. Width determines how much room remains between the opposing place settings.
Sunzo’s farm table range includes rectangular widths of 76, 90, 100, 115 and 120 cm, depending on the model and length. These convert to approximately 29.9, 35.4, 39.4, 45.3 and 47.2 inches.
A wider tabletop can accommodate larger chargers, serving platters and a central decoration line. Check the full place setting on narrower tables before selecting the final width. Sunzo’s standard farm and dining table height is approximately 76 cm / 29.9 in; dimensions and available combinations should be confirmed for the selected model. Quarter-Circle Farm Tables: Understanding the Dimensions
Quarter-circle farm tables create sweeping curves for wedding dining, head tables and serpentine arrangements. A quarter-circle table is one 90-degree section of a ring. Four matching sections complete the circular shape.
To specify it accurately, identify:
- Outside diameter: the diameter across the completed ring’s outer edge.
- Inside diameter: the diameter of the opening in the completed ring.
- Tabletop width: the distance between the inner and outer curved edges.
- Section angle: 90 degrees for a quarter-circle section.
The outside diameter describes the completed circle. It does not describe the straight length of one table section.
Worked example: 540 cm outside diameter, 340 cm inside diameter
For a quarter-circle table with these dimensions, the tabletop width is:
(540 − 340) ÷ 2 = 100 cm / 39.4 in

| Dimension | Centimeters | Inches |
|---|---|---|
| Completed ring outside diameter | 540 cm | 212.6 in |
| Completed ring inside diameter | 340 cm | 133.9 in |
| Tabletop width | 100 cm | 39.4 in |
| Outer curved edge of one 90° section | Approximately 424.1 cm | 167.0 in |
| Inner curved edge of one 90° section | Approximately 267.0 cm | 105.1 in |
The curved-edge lengths are calculated from one-quarter of each circle’s circumference. An illustrative seating arrangement is 6 guests on the outside curve + 4 guests on the inside curve = approximately 10 guests per section.
That provides approximately 70.7 cm / 27.8 in of outer table edge per guest and 66.8 cm / 26.3 in of inner table edge per guest.
Inside chairs converge toward the center, so their spacing needs particular attention. Check chair width, leg positions and knee room before confirming the count. The illustration excludes seats at the two joining ends.
When combining sections, plan access to the inside seating area. A complete ring needs an entry arrangement, and leaving an opening changes the final table layout and guest count.
Other serpentine table sizes you may encounter
Manufacturers offer several curve geometries. For example, Palmer Snyder’s serpentine table specifications include the following sizes, using the inside and outside diameters of the completed ring.
| Manufacturer’s size designation | Inside diameter | Outside diameter | Tabletop width |
|---|---|---|---|
| 3 ft × 8 ft | 91.4 cm / 36 in | 243.8 cm / 96 in | 76.2 cm / 30 in |
| 4 ft × 9 ft | 121.9 cm / 48 in | 274.3 cm / 108 in | 76.2 cm / 30 in |
| 5 ft × 10 ft | 152.4 cm / 60 in | 304.8 cm / 120 in | 76.2 cm / 30 in |
These dimensions illustrate why “serpentine table” alone is insufficient for specifying a layout. Request a drawing that identifies the diameters, section angle, curved-edge lengths and straight point-to-point measurement.
For a wooden farm-table example, Big Island Tents lists a serpentine farm table with a 36-inch width, 80-inch inside curve, 114-inch outside curve and five-to-seven-guest seating range. Its curve measurements should be checked against a drawing before comparing them with full-ring diameters.
Check the Actual Size Before Ordering
Inch and centimeter descriptions are sometimes rounded to familiar trade sizes. For accurate purchasing, specify the measured dimensions.
- 150 cm = 59.1 in; a true 60-inch tabletop is 152.4 cm.
- 180 cm = 70.9 in; a true 72-inch tabletop is 182.9 cm.
- 300 cm = 118.1 in; a true 120-inch tabletop is 304.8 cm.
A 150 cm round top and a 153 cm round top should therefore appear as different dimensions on a quotation. For requested round sizes such as 140, 150 or 200 cm, confirm the exact diameter and compatible base with Sunzo when selecting the model.
Before approving any seating arrangement, check the actual chairs, table legs and a complete place setting. Then allow space around the occupied chairs for guests and service staff to move.
If your table purchase is part of a new seating fleet, use the same chair specification when comparing suppliers. Our wedding chair supplier guide for U.S. buyers explains the sourcing, sample and delivery questions to confirm.
Find the Right Farm Table for Your Guest Count
For ten guests, a 180 cm round table, a 274 cm rectangular table with a compact five-per-side arrangement, or a 300 cm rectangular table with more space per guest offer different ways to organize the same group. A curved table adds another option when the layout calls for a sweeping dining arrangement.
Send Sunzo your preferred shape, exact dimensions in centimeters or inches, target guest count, chair model or chair width, table quantity and destination. For curved tables, include the inside diameter, outside diameter, tabletop width, section angle and intended arrangement.
